The Acheulean of the Upper Guadiana River Basin (Central Spain). Morphostratigraphic Context and Chronology

In the upper basin of Guadiana River, especially in sectors drained by its right-bank tributaries, Bullaque and Becea rivers, important concentrations Acheulean Mousterian industries can be found a superficial position. These have provided series containing tens thousands pieces. Deposits stratigraphic position also been identified, related to fluvial terraces Jabalón rivers some tributaries. Within sector studied, province Ciudad Real, these deposits is alluvial fans developed on slopes immediate reliefs. fans, mainly composed Lower Middle Ordovician quartzite gravel, were eroded their distal positions forming very low which large lithic industry found. El Sotillo, only known site area, was excavated 2017–2019 consists several levels with industry. We present technological characteristics main assemblage recognised at this site, for numerical dates obtained placing chronology second half Pleistocene. The location sites, surficial allows us recognise territorial space specific geographic significant human impact.
